Mads Arlien-Søborg has worked as trend researcher for Pejgruppen and news editor for Bo Bedre. In 2008 Mads was assigned to Formland to create the design area, New Note. Mads frequently appears on TV2 Go' Morgen DK presenting new interior trends. He is assigned to Boligmagasinet, and is often quoted in various lifestyle magazines and newspapers. In collaboration with Henrik Høyer he created the concept "Grand Danois - Next generation Danish design" presented at Milan Design Week 2008. Together with the Ministry of Foreign affairs og the Ministry of Culture Mads organized Danish Design Love during Milan Design Week 2010. Mads is a frequent lecturer and consultant for companies in the design industry.

The New Note bar was designed from the theme "Dark Surreal". We worked hard to get the bar area ready for the fair and are very pleased with the result.

Working on the next New Note exhibition at Formland 20-23 august 2010. The amount of exhibitors has exploded, which leads me to think that the event will be the best ever!  Looking forward to see everyone in august and enjoy four days of inspiration, trade and good times!!!

Nominering til katogorien "Årets Ildsjæl"

Trendeksperten er en sand energibombe og en ener, der har formået at være enormt vigtig for mange. Han er en kapacitet, som alle gerne vil lege med, og det gør, at han hører hjemme mange steder som trendekspert. Han har et godt øje for at spotte nye tendenser før alle andre, og han brænder for dansk design, som han de seneste år har promoveret på særlige stande på verdens vigtigste møbelmesse i Milano. Mads Arlien Søborg arbejde er uundværligt, og hans visioner er guld værd for møbelbranchen.

It's cool to be blue!

Carl Hansen: Blue is a colour, spring campaign

Carl Hansen introduces the Wing Chair and Y-chair in blue - the most trendy colour this year. We developed this idea last year and now you experience the result. I love the four blue colours for the classic Y-Chair. See the campaign in Bo Bedre and Boligmagasinet in March and April 2010 editions. Also, look for the postcards in 400 cafees all over Denmark during March 2010. Carl Hansen, it's cool to be blue!

Karen By Simonsen stand

Stand at Gallery (feb 2010) made in cooporation with Juncker Flooring and Karen By Simonsen. The challenge was to design an organic shaped stand in wood and making furniture that "grow" out of the floor.

New Note Blue Marine Bar

I loved making this bar/cafe with inspiration from fisherboats bringing coolness to an old business. The bar was made like an old fisherboat and flags and fishing nets was used as decoration.

Bamboo is hot

EGO presented new bamboo textiles on Formland which gave them the prestigous Formland Award. Here you can see a news report by DR1 about the Bamboo trend.

X-factor Remee opens Formland, February 2010

Remee declared Formland for open and came by New Note to hear about to the concept. He was immediately fascinated by the Illuminant lamp by Icelandic designer Kristin Bjarnadottir.

The "work kitchen" is gaining ground in Danish homes 

The inspiration from restaurant kitchens are well underway as a serious competitor to the minimalist kitchen solutions, predicts a trend researcher. Through the years, the minimalist style set the agenda in Danish kitchen design, but the trend is perhaps about to change. According to trend researcher Mads Arlien Søborg, we begin to experience a new kitchen - the "work kitchen".

New Note, Formland

Hay, Normann, Muuto, Magis, Wooden Radio and Ego are just a few of the 40 exhibitors who made it through the eye of the needle because of their innovative and trendsetting design. They will all be present in the New Note design area when Formland opens its doors 14-17 August 2009. New Note is the result of the cooperation between Formland and the trend researcher Mads Arlien-Søborg. He is the curator of the New Note and decides who will exhibit in this area. The criteria for New Note are that the designers and companies must present design that is markedly different and on a high international level.

Kolding School of Design

A total of 8 current and former students are on exhibition showing a wide range of design objects - from furniture, lighting, furnishings, bicycles, etc. Mads Arlien-Søborg has initiated the exhibition. He has previously hosted exhibitions during Milan Design Week and looks forward to seeing how the design school exhibition takes out. “It is not only important, but necessary for Kolding Design School to be represented at the world's largest design fair. It gives the school a huge international exposure. For the students, it is a unique opportunity to show their projects to the international design industry”, says Mads Arlien-Søborg.

Milan Design Week 2008

Grand Danois is an exhibition of work by young Danish designers in Zona Tortona. It's tempting to think that Danish design is all Hans J. Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, mid-century geniuses whose reputations live on after their deaths. But Grand Danois, a brave new initiative by Henrik Høyer and Mads Arlien-Søborg of media and concept agency Yellow Ducks, aims to change all that. Rounding up a range of fresh Danish design talent, and showing it in one stunning space during the Milan Design Week, Grand Danois is the show that will put new Danish design on the map.
